Increase Tome Drop Rate
I don't know about you guys, but I think the price of tomes is getting out of hand. I was talking with some alliance mates earlier and we thought that around 5K or so for an elite tome would be a fair price. As it stands, in town 10-15K is what most people want for one. IMO this means that right now the supply of them is smaller than what it needs to be.
So I'd like to ask anet if they could give the rate that bosses drop tomes a nice buff.

Increasing the drop rate of tomes will decrease the size of the E-penis earned by those who have gained the skill hunter title. Their elitist status is clearly more important then the majority of the GW community which has no problems with tomes.
on a more serious note. /signed.

Since hard mode came out i have had 4 Tomes (non elite) and I hm quite often.
I have a question though
Why did someone by a non-elite elementalist Tome for 2k? I CLEARLY advertised as not elite and they still offered 2k?

I love tomes. I want more. I've got Legendary Skill Hunter...don't want to have my other chars running all around to get stuff and taking forever to get the really cool skills, and I really don't want to have to buy them.

Just wait for a triple Tome drop rate weekend event!
I find that because they're not so easy to get, makes them very enjoyable when you're actually able to retrieve one.
And let's not forget that you don't need to waste any skill points when you use a tome. You get too many of those and the whole game balance goes down the drain.
You can always get your skills the old-fashioned way...

Get some people trying to sell non-elites for over 1k, which is getting ridiculous, as it's not really worth it, and despite people saying the hype would die down with elite tomes and they'd stop trying to sell really high never happened. Sure, no longer at 50k or whatever, but still a lot of people trying for 10-20
Or as an alternative, Tome Trader, or add buying/selling tomes to one of the current traders

/notsigned, because Tomes are exempt from loot scaling.
But I agree that a Tome Trader would be a great idea!

I think tomes should be able to be sold and bought at the rare scroll trader so they get easier to get(rarther then typing WTS or WTB over and over) one you want.

I captured all elites with one character.
Now, anytime I want an Elite for other, I just solo a certain boss until I get a Tome.
I found that you need to kill a boss around 50 times so it drops a tome.
I do that because I hate having to go to an outpost and wait ntil someone with the tome and a fair price comes up (no more than 10k, I mean)
So the already suggested some week ago 'Tome trader' should be much more than enough.

That's the problem. The only other option is to do chests and those cost you 1.5k a pop and you still aren't garunteed and elite tome or even a good item.

Tomes, elite or otherwise, should never be sold for anything more than 1k.
Think about it, they're only an alternative for the "gold and a skill point" combo we already use, right? The added feature of basically copying an already existing, account-available skill to a specific character is just that, an added feature.
Everyone has tons of skill points and if everyone has the money to buy tomes at anything higher than 1k, then they should just buy the skills or a cap sig at a skill trainer! Any price past that much makes them pointless.

Actually I think that normal skill tomes should be sold for about 1k and elites for about 5k.
The reason for this is if you already have a skill unlocked on your account and buying a tome costs 1k and buying a skill at a trainer costs 1k+skill point then the choice is obvious...
And buying a capture signet is the easy part of getting an elite skill. The only time I bought an elite tome was for gladiator's defense, one of the most annoying warrior skills to capture. For skills like these it's way easier, in my opinion, to use an elite tome. Also what if you want an end-game elite and the character you want it on hasn't even started that campaign? the extra 4k is well worth it.

I've soloed (that's a word?) the same boss so many times, I think I've made over 15k from just the crappy drops I get. Yet, I have only ever gotten 2 elite tomes. The first one dropped after something like 15 runs, the next after 30. Now, something like 50+ runs later, not a single tome (elite or otherwise) has dropped.
This tells me one of two things: Tome drop rates are way too low or the anti-farming code (or something like it) is actually in effect.
Either way, I want tomes to be more common, because right now, it's ridiculous.

The rules do. Post Count -1 for you.
Now, those things aside, I have a storage filling up with Normal and Elite Skill Tomes (though not exactly the types I would like to have, but that's life), and I hardly play Guild Wars anymore. So, therefore, based on my own experience, I will state that I do not see a need for the drop rates of either type of Skill Tome to be raised. The Skill Tomes are a convenience, and they should stay that way, in my opinion. Making them any easier to get, or cheaper to obtain, would be a joke.

The point isn't how many Elite Tomes you have, it's the fact that Elite Tomes are still being sold for rather high prices for what they are.
If tomes were being sold for 4k - 6k, then I wouldn't have a problem. The price of Elite Tomes appears to have stopped moving, but it's at 10k - 20k. Unlike greens, which simply increase in number the more you farm, Elite Tomes get used, and so the number in circulation can remain constant. Because of that, the tomes are unlikely to go down in price much more, unless an "outside" force intervenes (i.e. Arena Net).

If regular tomes and elite tomes droped TOO often, then their would be no reason to buy skills from the trainer at all. Tomes should be an optional thing to help a player out, not completely outstrip an old "tried and true" game mechanic (which also happens to be one of the few good money sinks in the game to lower inflation). I think a.net has the drop rate just about right right now (rare enough that the market isn't flooded with them, but common enough that elite ones don't cost 100k+ectos).

I have yet to get an elite tome. several normal ones but not one elite. Yes I am bitching and being selfish, but that is the kind of person i am so deal with it. I have an easier time capturing the skills then getting the tomes.
a tome trader would be a nice addition.
